Miss Jamaica World 2014
“Welcome everyone! You’ll all able to see me here through my reign via my constant updating. Hoping to leave a piece of Jamaica in the hearts of everyone I encounter! Jamaica no problem man!”
Laurie-Ann hails from the city of Kingston, where she is currently using her reign to serve fulltime as an advocate for charity. As Miss Jamaica she has spearheaded several projects, including funding the 1st autistic classroom in Jamaica for Mccam childcare centre. With dual degrees in Natural Sciences and Management studies, Laurie-Ann hopes to establish a cosmetological business utilising organic plants from the local region. In her spare time she enjoys the arts, is a skilled jewellery maker and a painter of portraits and scenery. A keen dancer, she qualified up to grade 7 at the Royal Academy of Dance, and her favourite music is R&B, Soca, Pop and Reggae.
“Jamaica, also known as “The land of wood water”, is filled with the friendliest people and a vibrant culture. We are known for our flavourful, spicy food, reggae music and producing legends such as Usain Bolt and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce.”

What is the best app you’ve used in the last year?
The “Wunderlist” App. It is a useful app as it helps to keep you organised and more productive through checklists, categorized duties, setting of reminders and synching information.
What is your favourite fashion website?
www.wwd.com is my favourite “Fashion Bible” That keeps me up to date with the latest trends in fashion and beauty.
What item of makeup could you not live without?
My eyebrow pencil! I find it to be multifunctional as I can use it to shape my eyebrows, line my eyes, line my lips and could be used also to create ‘smoked eyes’ looks.
Favourite books?
I have a few: Room by Emma Donoghue, Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom, The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran.
What is your most famous encounter?
I have met the world’s fastest man, Usain Bolt, the world’s fastest woman, Shelly Ann Fraser-Pryce, the sixth fastest man in the world Nesta Carter and Captain of the west indies cricket team, Chris Gayle. I am proud to say they are all Jamaican.
What annoys you most about the world you live in?
Abuse of the world’s most vulnerable, injustice and the destruction of our national environment.
